Lace Hankies

Early on, probably before I got engaged, I saw this lovely picture of a bride’s hands holding a delicate lace hankie. The excitement, anxiety, hope – it’s all there in her hands.

A few months into wedding planning, I was reviewing my wedding board on Pinterest (so thankful for this amazing concept!) and found that pinned photo.

I’m not a big crier, usually, but I have a feeling our wedding day may be an exception to this. So I set out to make myself a little hankie – out of some leftover muslin and a sweet little crocheted lace. And then I embroidered our initials and our wedding date. (I am not the best at embroidery). It turned out very sweet.

Last week, I found some lace that I just loved. Loved. And I had a bit of muslin left over from other projects – so I put them together and made another little hankie. I love it. Even the back made a neat little double seam. I’ll be carrying this one down the aisle.

Don’t worry – I have plans for the first little hankie.

And good news – the photographer of the original picture – she’ll be taking our wedding pictures. I didn’t realize it was her until a few weeks ago – I was looking through her website and stumbled upon the hankie picture. Sometimes, things work out in amazing ways. Sometimes may be more times than we even realize.

  1. Do not cry into the hankie, use my sleeve.

Oh, I could cry over this, too–I do not believe in coincidences!
